Symptoms: Common and Uncommon in Hereditary Amyloidosis

Hi everyone!

I am a 45-year-old, African American female that has the V122i variant. So far, my symptoms have been predominantly neurological and musculoskeletal. For example, I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy (I do not have diabetes), arthritis in my hips and both knees, migraines, etc. I also have suffered with IBS, acid reflux, and more recently, a low-functioning gallbladder. Lately, I have difficulty breathing, especially when laying down and I feel fatigue most of the time. I am just really curious about some of the symptoms others have and/or are experiencing.

For instance, I am curious about both common and uncommon symptoms. Have you noticed handwriting changes, hair loss, mobility challenges, memory problems, hearing changes, vision changes, mental health challenges, sleep disturbances, changes in vocal quality, fibroids, anemia, etc?

I feel like there are more symptoms that people are experiencing than are listed on the web and in brochures, so I wanted to tap into the community to see how this condition is expressing itself among us. Thanks so much and I pray they continue to research amyloidosis for all our sakes!
